Saturday Spotlight: Joe Luckeroth, Class of 1973 🎓

Last Updated 3/13/2025Posted in Alumni Spotlights

Each week, we feature an MHS alum and share their journey beyond high school. This week’s Saturday Spotlight highlights Joe Luckeroth, Class of 1973, whose career in state government and love for the outdoors have shaped his journey.

Building a Career in Public Service

After graduating from MHS, Joe built a 30-year career with the State of Kansas, where he served as Supervisor of Dealer Licensing. His work took him across the state, overseeing car dealers and ensuring industry standards were met.

His career in public service allowed him to connect with people from all walks of life, and he takes pride in the work he accomplished over the years.

Life in the Mountains

After decades of service, Joe now enjoys a peaceful retirement in the mountains of North Georgia. He and his husband have settled into a quiet, nature-filled life, where they can enjoy the beauty of the outdoors and a slower pace.

Trading in the Kansas plains for mountain views, Joe has embraced this next chapter, finding joy in the simple things.

MHS Memories: Hard Work and a Little Fun

Joe’s proudest high school moment was making the honor roll his senior year, proving that hard work pays off.

Of course, high school wasn’t just about academics—Joe and his friends also had their share of fun. One of their most legendary pranks? Toilet-papering Mr. Herbster’s house, a classic MHS tradition!
