Last Updated 3/13/2025Posted in Alumni Spotlights

Each week, we feature an MHS alum and share their journey beyond high school. This week’s Saturday Spotlight highlights Cathy Cammel Lindquist, Class of 1970, whose love for band and passion for beauty led to a fulfilling 50-year career.

Marching to the Beat of MHS

When Cathy looks back at her time at Marysville High School, band stands out as a highlight. From Friday night football games to Band Day at K-State and KU, and even trips to the Nebraska State Fair, she cherishes the friendships and experiences that came with being part of the MHS band.

Music wasn’t the only thing keeping her busy—she also loved the pep band, bringing energy and excitement to school events.

Following Her Passion for Beauty

After graduation, Cathy pursued a career as a beautician—and she stuck with it for an incredible 50 years! Her dedication to her craft and her love for helping people feel their best made her career both rewarding and meaningful.

Now happily retired, Cathy reflects on her journey with gratitude for the experiences and connections she made along the way.

MHS Memories: Band, Pep Rallies, and Fun in the Classroom

One of Cathy’s favorite high school experiences was being in band. Whether it was Band Day at K-State and KU, the Nebraska State Fair, or pep band performances at games, music played a huge role in her time at MHS.

Of course, school wasn’t just about band—it was also about making memories with classmates, including playing pranks in Social Living class by sliding chalkboard erasers back and forth in the trays while trying not to get caught!
