Saturday Spotlight: Mike Argo, Class of 1988 🎓

Last Updated 3/13/2025Posted in Alumni Spotlights

Every week, we highlight an MHS alum and share their journey beyond high school. This week’s Saturday Spotlight features Mike Argo, Class of 1988, whose passion for sports and leadership has shaped his career and community involvement.

From the Football Field to Leadership

Mike’s senior year football win against Abilene stands out as one of his favorite high school memories. He originally planned to become a Music Ed/Physical Ed teacher, but life had a different path in store.

Instead, Mike built a career in the energy and agriculture industry. Today, he works for Central Valley Ag in Clay Center as the North Central Kansas Energy Advisor, helping communities and businesses manage energy solutions.

Balancing Work, Family, and Community

Mike is more than just a professional—he’s also a dedicated husband and father. He and his wife live in Clay Center, Kansas, raising their two sons, ages 30 and 16.

Outside of work, Mike is deeply involved in the Clay Center community. He serves as the Clay County Fairboard President and manages all race operations at the local track. His passion for sports also led him back to Marysville High School, where he coached high school and middle school football and wrestling for a time.

MHS Memories: Football, Food, and Fun

📚 Favorite Teacher: Mr. Schuette
💭 Fondest Memory: Beating Abilene in football his senior year
🍽 Favorite Cafeteria Food: Ham and cheese square—a fan favorite!
🎬 Defining Movie of High School: Vision Quest—a classic sports drama
📅 Day He’d Relive: Senior year State Wrestling Tournament

An Angel in High School? 😇

Unlike some of our past Saturday Spotlight alumni, Mike insists he was an angel in high school—so, no pranks to report! (We’ll have to take his word for it!)

Looking Ahead

From his time on the football field to his leadership in the energy sector and his deep involvement in community events, Mike continues to make an impact wherever he goes. His journey is a testament to the power of passion, hard work, and giving back.
