Saturday Spotlight: Heather Pralle (Luken), Class of 1998 🎓

Last Updated 3/13/2025Posted in Alumni Spotlights

Every week, we shine a light on an MHS alum and share their unique journey beyond Marysville High School. This week, we’re featuring Heather Pralle (Luken), Class of 1998, a writer who found success in a way she never quite expected.

Finding Her Path as a Writer

From an early age, Heather had a dream—to become a writer. But, like many of us, life had its own winding path. “In a serpentine way, I succeeded,” she shares. Today, Heather is a technical engineer writer for Landoll, and she continues to write on the side.

Beyond her career, Heather is thriving in her personal life, raising two vibrant young men with her husband. “This is the life!” she says, embracing every moment.

MHS Memories: The Soundtrack of Friday Nights

When reflecting on her high school days, Heather recalls something that many of us may have taken for granted—the marching and pep bands absolutely BRINGING it to every game. Their energy and enthusiasm set the tone for every Friday night under the lights, creating a soundtrack to so many unforgettable moments.

And let’s not forget the legendary ribette from the cafeteria—Heather’s top pick for favorite school lunch!

A Time of Change and Connection

Heather and her classmates grew up in a unique moment in history—on the verge of a technological revolution but not yet completely dependent on it.

“I would go back to any day. Any of them. We were that group of classes burgeoning with technological ability, yet not dependent on it. We glowed with promise, orneriness, creativity, and humanity. We still do.”

It was an era of handwritten notes, landline phone calls, and the occasional prank—though Heather is keeping those details under wraps. “Yes, but I feel obligated to plead the 5th, with a high schooler of my own now.”

Confidence Over Talent: The Karaoke Philosophy

Hidden talents? Maybe not. But confidence? Absolutely! Heather jokes that while she might not have the voice of a professional singer, she has the confidence to own a karaoke mic, which, as we all know, is half the battle!

A Pop Culture Classic

What movie defined Heather’s high school years? The iconic Clueless. As if! A film that perfectly captured the era and still holds a place in pop culture history today.

Looking Back, Moving Forward

In truth, Heather would relive any day. The friendships, the memories, the anticipation of what the future held—it all made her time at MHS truly special.
